Your wife made a mistake in I-539 to include your eldest child, whom is not in US and is not eligible for a status, and USCIS made the similar mistake to approve such application. I don't think USCIS will grant you option 1 or 2. They could either file I-539 again prior to current I-94 expiration, or apply a visa should they have international travel plan.
