If he can return to US to respond to the RFE, the I-485 may be Ok. But It seems his Advanced parole has expired and thus, he can not enter US. If his I-485 is denied, his wife may file the I-824 in US for him to apply for the immigration visa in the US Consulate in Guangzhou using consular processing if they still plan to move to US and live in US permanently.
