Mr.8 & Pijiang: I-485 pending，can I work for a U.S company in Ch

Hi, Mr. 8 & Pijiang:
Canada passport, if working for a U.S company in China and payroll in China with I-485 pending, can I still stay with pending I-485 in the States w/o switching to CP in China? Appreciate your help!
