申请探亲签证, 我想申请儿子来美国探亲, 但是我没有能力担保他,

那么他是否可以担保他自己?

-Yes, he can show the ability to pay himself for the short trip fee  with B2 visa such as airticket,living fee,etc. Just show the visa officer the evidences that he has the abilities to support himself such as the bank acoount deposits, monthly salary paycheck, etc.
