Priority date for the Green Card

I'm applying the green card EB-2, right now, the advertisement is almost done. Unfortunately before I prepare to submit the perm application, my department is sold to another company. Now, the company lawyers freeze all the cases in our department.  There are still several months for the transition; I just want to know if I can get the priority date before the transition.  Or how can I get it. –Thank you
