我有位朋友（H1B)今天被layoff了，最后一次paycheck应该在3月11日。他可以合法呆在美国到哪一天？

-He can stay in US legally until his H1 I-94 expires, but he can not change his status within US technically (if he changes his status in a short time e.g. in one month, he may be OK to do that). If he can find a job in one to two months, he can do the h1 transfer and the H1 transfer probably will be approved fully. But Ii he finds a job too late (e.g. 3 months later), his h1 transfer may still be approve, but the H1 approval may has no I-94 and thus, he has to go outside US to get the h1 visa to come back.

有没有办法查到公司是否报告了移民局？

-No unless the company tell him.
