Help on EAD's wrong starting date:

Hi. Could anyone give me some advices? My case is as following:

I had an EAD expiring in Oct2010. I had applied EAD in Jun2010. The application was
approved on 24Nov2010. Unfortunately, USCIS mailed my card to a wrong address. As a
result I did not receive my EAD card.

My employer is very generous. The HR person told me to get EAD as soon as possible. The
employer did not terminate my job when my previous EAD expired at the end of October
2010.

I applied EAD again in November 2010. I indicated on the application form that the
application is a replacement of my previous EAD. Even though I did not receive the EAD,
I did have the receipt number of my lost EAD. Also I registered my case on web. Together
with my new application, I even printed out the web page showing that my previous EAD
was approved on 24Sep2010, with my receipt number on the print out. I also wrote a
letter stating clearly that I need an EAD starting on 24Sep2010, which is the approval
date of my lost EAD. Since my previously approved EAD was lost, there is no way that I
could provide my "approved EAD". Good new came on 03JAN2010 that my reapplying EAD was
approved (I got this piece of info from the Web). Finally on 07Jan2010, I received my EAD. However, I immediately found out that those idiots in USCIS gave me the
starting date as 03JAN2011, not 24Sep2010 I requested clearly on my application and
letter.

Now I have two ways to handle this problem.

1  Pretend that nothing is extraordinary. Just present my new EAD to my employer and
explain to them that even the starting date does not look good. But because USCIS made a
mistake. The risk is that later on if someone check my employment record, it would be a
gap between Oct2010 to 03Jan2011. The error came from USCIS because they mailed my
first approved EAD to a wrong address. Then they did not treat my 2nd application to be
a replacement, instead they treated my application as a new application. Not to say that
I have to pay twice to get this lousy service.

2  First give the copy of my EAD to my employer, stating that I have an approved
EAD. The mail this EAD back to USCIS and request a correction.

I am in a process to switch my job and I really want to keep my EAD at hand. I am in a
real dilemma here.

Please if anyone has some advices.

I think those working at USCIS are total idiots. I am really frustrated that I have to
deal with those mentally challenged from time to time.

Thanks and I am looking forward to hearing any suggestion.

Dan
