Will the mother with GC files divorce affects the relative GC ap

My friend has been married for over for five years with her American hu*****and however they have been constantly fighting over issues from his previous marriage. She is thinking about giving up this marriage. However they had applied the relative GR for her 28 year old son in China around 3 or 4 year ago. Now the information has been transferred to Guangzhou. If she files divorce, will that interrupt the whole process? Please help. thank you!
