You may be lucky to save I-539, if your H-1b approval notice will be received in this month.

Mostly like CBP made a mistake, which was discussed in details here at http://blog.wenxuecity.com/blogview.php?date=200806&postID=23446, on their I-94 expiration. I believe 9/2/10 is the visa expiration date.

In this case, bring your I-129 approval notice and I-94 cards to CBP, to request a revision, instead.
