Ask 863211 and Pjiang: H1 and I-94

I have the question about my H1b extention after 6 years. I used AP in 2008 and now my I-94 was expired(06/2009). My H1 will expire on 10/2010. If my H1 ext approved, what will be my I-94 number? Will be the same as I entered to U.S.A? But it was expired. Any problem with that? Thanks!
