If you can not get the green card stamp, you may just use the AP to travel. You should have no problem to be admitted to US using the AP, but you need to tell the CBP officer that your I-485 has been approved, and you want to be admitted as LPR or not be paroled as Parolee. So, one possibility is that you will be offere the LPR at the port of entry, then you do not need to do anything. Another possibility is that the CBP offer will allow you to enter US and ask you to do deferred inspection at the CBP local office.

Anyway, just bring your passport, AP and the I-485 approval notice for the travel and show these documents to the CBP officer when you come back. Good luck!.
