after I485 approval, exactly how many updates do we get?

The three of us got different things:

#1: production ordered notice + welcome letter + approval notice
#2: production ordered notice + approval notice
#3: welcome letter + card production ordered notice

Is there a pattern here, or is USCIS trying to be totally unpredictable, even at the end of the game?
