B-1/2 or J-1签证？

我侄女想申请B-1/2来美参加她表姐七月初的婚礼，而她公司又在给她办十月份来美作intern的J-1签证。我的问题是如果她申请B-1/2签证来参加婚礼，来美后可否转成J-1签证？如果她等到十月份申请J-1签证，她又不能参加她表姐的婚礼。有没有这个可能性：即持B-1/2入境参加七月婚礼，再转J-1签证十月份去做intern？谢谢！
