You may not understand Pijiang's comments. You need to apply for an h4 visa to come back to U.S. if you do not have AP. If your hometown is not in the city where the US Consulate is located (e.g. Beijing, Shanghai, etc.), it is not convenient for you to get the h4 visa (the visa application fee is $100). So, AP is the best choice in this case.
