请问，F1签证持有者能在美国公司做intern吗？

亲戚的孩子在美国上大学，想趁暑假的时候在公司找个internship。但问题是F1签证持有者能在美国公司做intern吗？有什么work permit，诸如OPT之类的要申请的吗？谢谢大家回复。
