I did not extend my H-1B after reentering US. I extended H-1 1.5 years ago. I had always wanted to maintain my H-1 and checked with my lawyer and some friends before using AP. They all said my H-1 status is maintained if I work for the same employer after coming back, even though I used AP to re-enter US.

I am so confused now.
