-Your wife just needs to show your H1 approval notice to the CBP officer and she will be issued a new I-94 with the same length as your H1 duration. The H4 visa and the new I-94 is her H4 status evidence/document. Her old H4 approval notice is useless. She does not have to to extend her H4 status with you at this time. She can extend her H4 status any time before her new I-94 expires (which will be in 2012). Just remind your wife to check the I-94 duration to see whether it matches your H1 duration at the port of entry after the officer issues it to your wife. if it does not match your h1, ask the officer to correct it.
