Please help me! J1 waiver

I am a student with a J1 student visa. Could any one give me some suggestion about how to address the resaon of applying for the waiver? I guess the reason should be different from a J1 schelor to a J1 student, right? Did any one ever got a waiver when he or she was a J1 student? I really appreicate your help!
