-Normally, the immigration officer at the port of entry will issue a 6 months of I-94 to your mother and that means your mother can be allowed to stay in U.S. for 6 months and of course she can apply for extension to stay before the I-94 expires, but it does not mean her extension application will be approved by 100%.
