PJiang, What status are we after we submitted the I-485?

Both I (H1) and my wife (F1) submitted the I-485s last Sep but they are still pending. We got the EAD cards but didn't use them yet.
What statuses are we? Am I H1B or 485 pending? What if we use the EAD cards?
