I had the same experience as yours.

After the success of my I-140 appeal, the online status of all related I485's was 'rejected' for a very long time. Finally, I asked my lawyer to call USCIS to check the status, she was told that all I485's were actually reopened automatically. The online status was incorrect or out-of-date.

I think you can do the same thing or go to infopass.
