Question about parents' visit

My parents-in-law are visiting me here, and I'd like for them to stay longer than one year, and possibly they will stay here without the approval of extension. They probably will not come back to US in the future after this visit. My wife and I hold green cards. I want to know if their illegal stay will affect my application for citizenship later on. Also will this affect my own parents' visiting visa application later on? Thanks a lot in advance!
