Theoretically, once you used AP, you are AOS, and no longer H-1b. However, if you work with the same employer, you may still keep your H-1b status without EAD. You can reinstall your H-1b by reapply H-1b or transfer H-1, or apply H-1b visa outside USA. I think you are ok.
