请教加拿大探亲签证可否不回国,在加国申请?

老婆明年四月学生签证到期，如果到时没有找到工作，就必须以我的名义申请探亲签证才能留在这里. 我也是学生签证,PHD,到2008年到期. 请问我们可不可以在她的签证到期前,在加国申请探亲签证? 还是探亲签证必须要回国才能申请得到?谢谢！！！
