-Anything is possible. But most likely the kid will get the visa because the child needs the mother to take care and the visa officer knows it.
如孩子来美后申请绿卡，要排期吗？
-Yes, if the mother is the sponsor. But If the step father (US citizen) agrees to sponsor the kid's green card application, no 排期. Anyway, the mother has to have the child custody right issued by the court.
