I-94 expiration date

I did not extend my h4 with my wife. Her H1b will be expired in 2006 and my h4 will be expired soon. We are leaving for Canada for a short time. When we come back, should the POE officer issue me a new I-94 card with the expiration date same as my wife's H1B approval notice?
