if I were you, I would find a lawyer and a new job with an H1b transfer.
if you got a new job and transfered your H1b, you can go out of country sometime and enter again, that will help you with the gap and prevent any issues when applying 485 in the future.
When I do H1b transfer few years back, my lawyer told me he once got a h1b transfer with 6 month gap, but somehow USCIS still approved it.
