The following is from the company attorney:

Since you were married before you become a lawful permanent resident, then you can file the I-824 application if your wife cannot file in time, and request to have notification sent to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate of your AOS approval. She can then go to the Embassy or Consulate to go through the immigrant visa process. The I-824 application can take from six to nine months for adjudication right now, and the immigrant visa process at the consulates can take a few weeks or months.
