Worse case: the new owner will withdraw H1 and I-140 sponsorship in August. You have to find a job before then (probabliy in non-profit if you cannot find it in April for a cap H1 chance) to keep your H1 for 3 more years. Or you can be H4, O1 or F2, in which case you probably won't get H1 back unless you leave US for 1 year.
This PD can be carried over if your future I-485 is based on another EB I-140 of yours. No need to be same/similar job if there will be another I-140.
