Technically, you are out of statu no matter the school or USCIS knows it or not. You need to file a change of status from H4 to F1 as soon as possible. You can not be risky unless you do not want to come back to U.S. in the near future. If your unlawful presence is > 180 days or > one year, you will not be allowed to enter U.S. within 3 or 10 years.
