N400 processing time in LA

I applied for naturalization two years ago and passed the naturalization interview a year ago in LA. However, I am still waiting for the oath notice. I went to the INS LA office many times and I was told each time that a thing called "name check" is pending. Does anyone have similar experience? How long does that stupid name check normally take?
