TN denial

请教 TN denail Urgent, please help!

My friend works for banking as CSA category in US. He went to border to apply for TN renewal last week. The lawyer put "Engineering" as the TN catogory, which was wrong. He didn't notice that until he was at POE. The officer reviewed his document and denied his application without taking his I-94. My friend asked the lawyer to correct the mistake and went to POE to apply for the second time. He was denied again and I-94 was taken away from him. The sad part was he escorted to Canada and had to stay in Canada. He was not prepared for that, neither of his family. Luckily, his wife has TN visa and their daughter has TD which applied with her mom. The question is what is the chance to apply for TN again? Is it better to apply for TD to join his family right away? But the latter means he can not work.

Please give some advice. Any friends have similar situation, but sucessfully get TN later. Thanks a lot.
