Canada landing

Can anyone share experience about landing in Canada?

I am currently working in the US. Approved for Canadian immigration a month ago. Landing required by end of this year. I don't want to give up my job in the US now. If I drive to Toronto just for landing, will I be rejected by the immigration office at the border?

Someone told me the immigration office would easily reject those with round-trip tickets from China. If they think you don't have intention to stay in Canada, they won't grant you the immigration status. Is that right?
