My parents overstayed for 2 years since my N-400 was delayed due to name check. However, they had no trouble getting greencards in the States. The immigration officer was not happy about their overstay, but there was nothing he could do to prevent my parents from getting greencards.

I suggested that your mom stay here and do AOS right after you have got your US citizenship. There is absolutely no risk. I consulted many attorneys a few years ago and most of them told me that there should be no risk which was already proven by my parents' case.
