Lost my camera in Washington DC China Embassy

I went to the DC China embassy last week to apply for visa. The front desk
security took my camera but I forgot to get it back when I left the embassy.
I called the embassy several times but was never able to talk to anybody or
left a message. Don't know how to get my camera back. I am living in
Tennessee and fly to DC again is the last thing I want to do.
