I believe you completed the interview at the time he held that job. Now is in waiting. Your GC will come soon in months even he got laid-off. You can go back to China later. However you can come back for your new job in USA if you have GC.

You are in a cross section. Think more and waiting more before you make decision. Be patient. Not only you have such situation. Many, many people.
