MTR for wrongly denied I485 and my status

I forgot to add my status question.

I came back on 8/5/2008 with AP. I am currently on my 7-9 year h1b extension(unitl 2011) with my current employer(sponsor). This h1b extension was approved on 8/4/2008 when it was one day before I came back with AP. I did not apply for EAD when my 485 was filed? I am still working for the same employer. What exactly my status is now? AOS or h1b? Can I still work for my current employer?
