I spent at least 45 days on it

not including the holding time for the recommendation letters.
Thinking like this, after I got the greencard, I would spend another 45 days playing, say, having a new girlfriend, spend some money on any thing you like. But without greencard, it is hard to do it.
Work hard, exciting time will follow, of course, do not let your wife know your intention.
