1. In Chinese law, the child is not recognized as a US citizen. He/she can get a Chinese passport, and travel back to China.

2. In US law, the child is a US citizen. He/she can get a US passport. But He/she will not be able to get a visa, as China consulate/embassy will require at least one parent be GC or foreigner to recognize the child being a foreigner and issue a visa.

3. I believe the compromise is to get a travel document from Chinese embassy which does not say whether or not the child is a US citizen or Chinese citizen. And maintain US passport and leave China using that in the future.
