小孩就学问题

我们全家目前以 J1/J2留在美国。签证明年到期。我有个美国籍小孩要留在美国读高中，我太太想留下来照顾他。请问她要以何身分留在美国。我另一个非美国籍小孩是否可同时留下来读middle school。谢谢！
