I completely agree with iceui. Your friend has to get the J waiver before she files I-485 even if she was maaried to a U.S. citizen. But J2 holder may not file the J waiver directly (usually J-1 waiver together with J-2), so your friend has to contact Chinese Consulates in U.S. for more details.
