Your lawyer is absolutely wrong! Your employer can revoke the I-140 petition anytime. If your I-140 has not been approved yet and your employer revoke it, your GC application will be cancelled even if your I-485 pending is > 180 days. But If your I-140 has been approved and I-485 pending > 180, your GC application will not be affected even if your employer revoke the I-140 petition.
