question about "violation of your F1 status"?

JMXDs: as some of you may know that under the new policy of OPT, the accumulated unemployed period can't exceed 90days during OPT. I consultated the officer in charge of international students affair to ask him "what if by the 90th day during my OPT, my job application is still in process...", his answer is "that is taken as violation of your F1 status". I wonder what consequence that will brings?

I would appreciate your valuable sharing if you know anything about it; or any experience for the new policy of OPT!
