H4's I-94 valid date less than

My wife got H4 visa in Beijing this June. When she entered US, the customer officer issue her I-94 of which valid date until 09/18/2004. My H1 visa will be expired 12/31/2004, I believe her I-94 should also be valid till 12/31/2004. How could we conver this time cap? Anyone could give us some suggestion? Thank you so much.
