Question about using EAD

My wife and I are applying green card through my company. The current status is 485 pending. We both have H1 visa and EAD. My wife is going to change her job. She does not want to ask the new company to apply for new H1 visa, but want to use the EAD to work instead. Does she have to transfer to H4 visa to keep a legal status? Thanks a lot.
