1. In the US, people say "mile", no "KM".

2. LA is a very big city, where is your center of "40KM"? There are many communities, such as West LA, South LA, Hollywood, Mar Vista, San Fernando Valley.... Also, there are many satellite cities around, such as Santa Monica, Inglewood, Whittier, Alhambra... Where are you going to work?

3. Housing is quite expensive in good areas, such as West LA. $1200 for 1b/1b is OK. If you don't care about your safety, you can go to South LA.

4. Traffic is a big problem. Be prepared to move 5 mile/h during rush hours. Especially in 405 and 10 freeways.

5. LA is the most diversed city in the world. You will have to wish to see white people. Too many Chinese.

6. Last and most important: if you don't have a stable job, no city will be "your city"!!
