About job and I485 question

My I140 and I485 are submitted in Dec, 2002, and I140 got approved in May, 2002. Now I am in I485 pending for about 18-19 month. But I got lay off recently, If I don't inform INS, will I still get I485 approval if I just stay at home? (SC center)
