well, if you hire lawyer and go through all procedures until the end, then it is not surprised that it will cost $10,000 ($2000-3000 for initial filing, $5000 for prepare the response to MTD, $1000-2000/hearing, $200-350/hour for any additional hour).

The fact is, depend on which Court, and case by case, lots of case never go that far, and also many people file as Pro Se (lawsuit without lawyer), see lots of articles here 见这里
