AP, H-1 and new employer

Beating the dead horse again.

Some posting mentioned that H-1 will remain valid after using AP as long as the person doesn't change employor. If that is the case, is the person in AOS and should use EAD to work for a new employer after using AP?

I am in my 7th year H-1 and it was extended for another 3 years. Should I use EAD or H-1B extension when change my job in future? Does it make difference if AP has been used?
