有关加国移民背景调查的问题,想请教 &my timeline

我是去年9月递的移民申请,今年5月底收到第二封信,免面试,要求做体检.
但是,信里有一个叫"background information form"
It says "there are incomplete sections on your application form. Further processing of your application will be suspended until our officer receives the information listed below." 然后就是填一些自从我递申请之后的地址和所做的事情.

请问这是表示要做背景调查的意思吗? 我本人原来在IT行业里做销售的,不是什么敏感专业,而且在加拿大也是读的MBA,为什么还要做背景调查呢?
如果是的话,需要多长时间?
